The teachers
Our teachers at Surya are an incredibly talented group of yogis who have each had their own inspiring journey to the mat. We asked them to describe themselves in three words and tell us a little more about what you can expect in their classes.

Yoga is a way of life, a path, a way to connect with myself and grow.
Expect guidance and encouragement to help you build your own practice from the inside. Find your balance, strength, alignment, and boost your confidence! Every class holds its own energy but be sure you'll come out transformed in some way.
! love teaching and practicing many styles of Yoga. Bikram has always been the most accessible style and it holds its own special powers for back pain sufferers like me. Aerial offers the added benefit of traction poses that you can’t get from mat-based yoga and is amazing for back health too!

Yoga for me is like a Dance. A creative process of understanding when to push, but also when to let go. A vehicle of spiritual expression for the body, mind and soul.
Throughout my time working as a Secondary School teacher, practising hot yoga in the evenings was the antidote to the stresses and demands of the job. When I’m in the heat, I can’t possibly think of anything else, which is the real beauty of the practice. I feel yoga has transformed my life and taught me how to be the best version of myself each day which is why I feel so passionate about sharing and teaching my experiences with others.
I’m a dynamic teacher and love vinyasa flow. I encourage you to find your own body’s rhythm and move seamlessly through shapes to upbeat, energetic music. A moving meditation!
You will leave my class feeling brighter, calmer and stronger.

Focused • Calm • Open
Yoga for me begins with softening the connection to my thoughts, delving into the space between them to discover and connect with the essence of my true self. Through this connection and with the guidance of my breath, I move my body through each asana.
I hold deep appreciation for every student who arrives on the mat, ready to practice in whatever capacity they can on any given day. Whether their purpose for practicing is to strengthen, stabilize, heal, find inner bliss, or anything in between, I remain focused, calm, and open. My aim is to encourage students to still their restless minds, channel their energy, and work with their breath. By embracing the heat and guiding their unique bodies, students can progress through each posture, discovering their form in this highly beneficial sequence.
My hope is for students to leave feeling connected and inspired, with a sense of achievement, glad they came, and with a desire to return to practice again and again.

My yoga practice makes me a better person every day! It has taught me to face the changes and challenges that life brings with resilience and patience and, most importantly, to let go of what isn't right for me.
I teach from a place of joy and I hope that all the students in the room feel that. I am motivational and support people to try their best whilst also moving mindfully, focussing on their breath and resting with intention!
I practise all types of yoga and love being with other people and feeling the energy spread across the room.

Yoga to me is the avenue to clarity, connections, compassion and contentment. It is a self-discipline that directs me to a life with purpose, meaning and devotion. As I orient my body intelligently in the space through conscious breathing and self awareness, I continue to discover and understand the energy within me and around me in an intimate manner.
As we practise together, you are invited to tune inward, move with intention, breathe with awareness to experience spaciousness in the body and the mind. I hold a space where guidance, challenge and encouragement are offered to create a meaningful journey towards your being. Each class is designed to build strength, increase flexibility and cultivate inner calm so you feel nourished, uplifted and aligned in the body, mind and spirit.

Honest • Passionate • Resilient
Yoga has been such an amazing teacher in my life. It’s led me to place where my breath and movement now informed me about who I am every day. Who I’m being and where am at!!
I have learned through yoga that my body is a map to my soul and that my body speaks a language that is designed for me to hear and learn from.
Everyone’s body and practice are different in the sense that the language that the body speaks is entirely different from one person to the next but the template is the same. And the journey is to a deeper truer aspect of ourselves.
Our bodies, our breath, our minds, and our choices are being refined in the laboratory that is our yoga mat.
And we are this incredible experiment that is life!

Expect a soulful, intention-filled and energetic yoga class.
I absolutely LOVE teaching a flowy vinyasa class. Equally I love the serenity and stillness of teaching a yin class. Try both and feel the Yang and yin that we all need.
